Our first stop was the Old Deaf School Park, where we posed with shrubbery. French shrubbery.
EDUCATIONAL LESSON OF THE DAY
Columbus artist James T. Mason conceived and designed this topiary recreation of Georges Seurat's impressionist painting, A Sunday Afternoon On The Island of La Grande Jatt.
Our next stop was behind the Columbus Art Museum where we went in search of the great "(F)art" sculpture. After several minutes, all we found was "(T)art." We took a few pictures and then Sarah had an epiphany and we booked it to another lot and found it-Success!
AND THEN we went to the field of giant ears of corn. Sarah has been here before with her family and said that the ears were erected in protest of corporations and homes that all look the same ("...little boxes on the hillside...") and after a little research, I found that it was intended by the Arts Council to remind residents of the area's long-gone agricultural heritage but instantly became a joke-giant inedible food-paid for with tax dollars, and surrounded by a sprawl of corporate offices, bland businesses and suburban neighborhoods. Two things learned in one day. Yay us!

Twenty minutes later we were in Hilliard to visit Jackie and Brian. We had an incredible dinner with this mac and cheese thing that was good. Real good. We had a few hours of great conversation before heading to bed. We had another great meal with Jackie (Brian had to work-boo) and a few more hours of great conversation. Made it to Dearborn, Michigan and are making plans for Chicago!
For just one cent, Sarah had a ride at Meijer's. |
Those topiaries are awesome! Seurat is my favorite :)
