Moving Day(s)

Plan: Pack all weekend, load UHaul and hitch up car to tow on Monday, leave at 11pm Monday night, arrive in Groton by 9am Tuesday morning, unload UHaul, pick up new car.

Reality: Packed part of the weekend, hired help to load UHaul Monday afternoon, freaked out and called in reinforcements (THANK YOU SO MUCH LORI, KATE and ANDREW!!!!), left the UHaul in the Nebraska Lot at American University, slept until 7am Tuesday morning, fed meter in Nebraska Lot, called AU to check on legality of keeping UHAUL in lot (THANK YOU GENESIS), slept until 5pm, made two trips to the UHaul, ate Chipotle, packed up the car, left the apartment, spent 40 minutes trying to put the Malibu on the tow dolly while police officers watched, drove out of DC at 2:22am Wednesday, had an uneventful ride in the 17 foot UHaul until 11am when a toll booth attendant noticed that a wheel on the tow dolly was smoking, waited for an hour for a tow truck who's driver informed us that our wheel bearing was broken (THANK YOU TOLL BOOTH GUY), drove two hours out of our way to Chicopee in order to drop off the tow dolly, made it to Groton at 5pm Wednesday evening, picked up new car, drank delicious frapes, passed out around 8pm, woke up Thursday morning, drove to New Hampshire in the pouring rain to meet hired guys to unload UHaul, were not charged for being a day late (THANK YOU GREEN SHIRT GUY).

Farewell 701, you were a great first home.

On the road in NYC.

Buh bye tow dolly.
