Las Vegas, Nevada

MGM Grand
Day two was sooo much better than day one! We're really sorry for all the negativity in yesterday's post. We were just very disappointed. Today, however, we found exactly what we thought Vegas would be like: The Bellagio.

To start at the beginning of the day, we had an interesting encounter with a gentleman at lunch who claimed that he and his friend were from D.C. We were pretty excited about this and asked where about. "Alexandria," was the reply. Those of you who pay rent in the District can understand our frustration with those who say they live in D.C. but actually live in Virginia. Regardless, he did provide us with a bit of entertainment, showing us pictures his friend took the previous night of him getting a lap dance. Awesome. Other than that lunch/service kind of sucked but we were determined to have an amazing day.

And amazing it was. We walked around for a long while, bought a few souvenirs and brought them back to the room. We freshened up and walked to the Bellagio where we caught a water show-yay!

"I'm Proud to be an American"
After being completely awed and amazed by the show, we managed to get inside the hotel and looked up to see this:

Um, beautiful. These were all glass...things...that covered the ceiling above the lobby registration desks.

We found our way to the O Theater and picked up our tickets for the 7:30pm show. We had a little bit of time to kill so we, of course, hit the penny slots! Within forty-five minutes Halley had lost $25 and was ready to call it quits for the night and Sarah was doing pretty well and was up $5.

And then the doors opened and we went to our seats and it was the most amazicredibcraziawesome thing EVER. "O" is a Cirque du Soleil show that involves a lot of jumping into water (yes, a 1.5 million gallon pool is the stage) and the usual acrobatics that come with every Cirque du Soleil performance.

This was the ceiling. A performer was flipping above it to start the show.
It was back to the slots to lose more money after the show. We played on a bunch of them, won some lost some, moved on. Sarah finally found her favorite, Hex Breakers, and I left her to play one of my favorites, Super Jackpot Party. I played 20 lines at 1 cent each for a grand total of a 20 cent bet. I went right into a bonus game, which was pretty awesome. I won $12 in the bonus and was brought back to the main screen. Looking at the screen, I noticed that it was saying I only had 1268 credits. I was pretty worried that the machine had malfunctioned and changed the screen to display dollars instead of credits which usually doesn't make a difference but I was hoping against all hopes that the machine unfroze and showed me my 20 some-odd dollars.

Well I had looked at the screen wrong and I hadn't won $12. I had won $318.25 on a 20 cent bet.

Heck yes.
Needless to say I cashed out and ran over to Sarah and did a little happy dance and squeal. When the weekend betting is tallied up between the two of us, we a little over $200, which is way hot especially when you consider we were playing penny slots.

10:30pm seemed like a good time for dinner so we dined at the Cafe Belagio and enjoyed the view in the courtyard area.

All decorated for the fall.

This real pumpkin weighed an astonishing 1,100 pounds.
We were sad to leave the Bellagio but were so happy to have found a piece of Vegas that felt as awesome as we knew it would be. Before we made the walk back to the Grand, we took in two more fountain shows!
