Route 1

We were, as always, excited to hit the road nice and early, especially as today had us ending in San Francisco. What should have been a relatively quick and easy drive turned into a 12-hour drive which left us both very carsick. Totally worth it, though, for the views.

We drove through that. Much cooler than the one we went to the day before and this one also had a gift shop.

Us with the tree and our new friend Gator who we later saw again at the post office.

As Mister demonstrates, there are two roads that diverged in the state and we, we took the one more curvy.

The carsickness was worth it for frequent stops with views like this.

Lady's first bath!

Isn't she beautiful? She's had her tires rotated so now her missing hubcap is in the back.

A slug and cell phone for comparison. This sucker was huge. This is what Sarah does with her phone instead of picking up your calls.

There were people all along this beach where we stopped taking these mussels off rocks which were just covered in them.

Crash!

Sunset.

There is not a great photo that accurately demonstrates just how crazy this road was. We would take a turn and look to the left or right of us and see the part of the road we were just on running parallel to us. There were also large sections that had no guard rails. Just the road and ocean. A very large round of applause for the amazing driving talents of one Ms Sarah G.

  1. I'm sorry but it is called PCH, or Pacific Coast Highway, NOT Route 1. Blech.

    (PS nice pictures :) )
